Lamb County Library Summer Reading Program Studies the Seas

The Summer Reading Program for children ages 4 to 12 years old at the Lamb County Library is in full swing. The program meets every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm until 4pm through the month of June. The theme for this summer is “Oceans of Possibilities.” Special guests are featured each week.

U.S. cotton consumption increased

Results from the most recent economic evaluation of the Cotton Research and Promotion Program found strong, positive returns for cotton producers and importers as a result of the Program. The study shows that consumption of cotton products has increased by about 14 percent thanks to the program. That is approximately 2.47 million bales more annually.

Recyle your denim

Since 2006, Cotton Incorporated’s Blue Jeans Go Green program has collected denim (made from cotton) so it can be recycled back to its original fiber state and transformed into something new. To date, the program has diverted 2,100-plus tons of denim from landfills and recycled more than 4 million pieces of denim.
