The City of Littlefield will soon start an Animal Control Summer Educational Outreach Program. As the summer progresses, we will be releasing more information and opening up community-based conversations, on our Facebook page, City of Littlefield Animal Shelter. For information call: 806-385-9202

OUR FOCUS WILL BE:

Rabies Shots:

• State Law-failure is punishable by citation.

• All dogs over the age of 4 months must have it.

• Failure can result in destruction of animal if it is involved in a bite on a person.

Unlawful Restraint of a Dog:

• Dog must have adequate shelter, food, and constant access to clean water.

• Cannot be tied out with a chain.

• Failure to comply could result in a citation and in extreme cases seizure of the animal and animal cruelty charges being filed.

Dog at Large:

• Every dog, within the city, should be someone’s responsibility and we will be actively locating each owner.

• If a dog is running loose, it becomes a safety concern and could be picked up by animal control. If an owner is located a written warning or citation could be issued.

Dog Impounds:

• Three business days to reclaim. On the 4th day the dog will become available for adoption or rescue tag.

• Proof of Rabies or proof of intent to get

• Kennel Fees paid-$25 for the first day and $10 a day thereafter.

• Fence/property inspection

• Owners can call 806-385-9202 to reclaim their dog.
