Moderate to extreme drought continues to grip the Texas South Plains and Panhandle in May with the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) reporting 69% of the state experiencing drought conditions, compared to 75% the previous week, 69% three months ago, and 46% one year ago.

The Littlefield Economic Development Corporation hosted a regular meeting on April 16, 2026.No comments were made during the public comment portion of the meeting.All but three members, Mayor Eric Turpen, Vice President Graham Henley and Secretary Lottie Spencer, were present at the meeting.

Early voting begins May 18 and lasts through May 22.April 27 was the last day to register to vote in the runoff primaries, and the winners from this election will determine the individuals on the general election ballot in November.
