2020-2021 AREA CHAMPS — The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team took down the Groom Tigers, 71-43, on Tuesday at Vega High School to claim the 1A Region I Area Championship.

WILDCATS WIN OT THRILLER OVER ALPINE, 53-52

The fourth seeded Littlefield Wildcats’ varstiy basketball team won an overtime thriller over the number one seeded Alpine Bucks at Andrews High School on Saturday, 53-52, to claim the Region I 3A Bi-district championship. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 16-9 overall on the season.

#12 OLTON FALLS TO RALLS IN 2A BI-DISTRICT PLAY-OFF, 57-54

The #12 Olton Mustangs’ varsity basketball team suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the Class 2A Bi-district round of the basketball play-offs on Friday at LCU, as they fell to the Ralls Jackrabbits, 57-54. With the loss, the Mustangs fmish the season 23-2 overall, 8-0 in district play.

Amherst puts two girls on All-District team

The Amherst Lady Bulldogs’ varsity basketball team was represented by two of their seniors, who were first team All-District selections. Seniors, Lizbeth Medrano and Kat Amalla, were the lone selections to the All-District teams for Amherst.

Anton has two girls earn All-District honors

The Anton Lady Dogs’ varsity basketball team had two athletes earn All-District selections. Senior, Marisa Alvarado, and sophomore, Takayra Goree, were first team All-District selections for Anton.

LADY CATS FALL TO #1 FILLIES IN AREA ROUND OF PLAY-OFFS, 68-31

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team saw their season come to an end in the Class 3A Area round of the basketball play-offs as they fell to #1 Shallowater, 68-31. With the loss, the Lady Cats finished the season with a mark of 12-8 overall, 10-2 in district play.

Lady Wolverines come up short against Valley, 53-41

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night in Floydada, as they fell to the Valley Lady Patriots, 53-41, in the Class 1A Area round of the basketball play-offs.

AMHERST BULLDOGS FALL TO TEXLINE IN BI-DISTRICT, 91-54

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity basketball team fell to the Texline Tornadoes, 91-54, at Vega High School on Thursday afternoon, as their season came to an end in the Class 1A Bi-district round of the play-offs. The Bulldogs finished the season with a mark of 11-6 overall, 8-4 in district play.
