Wolverines come up short at Dimmitt,70-63

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity basketball team traveled to Dimmitt on Friday for a non-district game with the Bobcats, where they came up just short, 70-63.

With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 18-7 overall on the season.

The Wolverines held a fourpoint advantage after one quarter, 15-11, and despite the Bobcats outscoring them, 19- 18, in the second quarter, the Wolverines led going into halftime, 33-30.

Dimmitt, though, poured in 22 points in the third quarter to take a, 52-46 lead into the fourth quarter, and in the final quarter, both teams tallied 17 points, as Springlake-Earth came up short against the Bobcats, 70-63.

Evan DeLeon led the team in scoring with 20 points and he was joined in double-figures scoring by JJ Jaramillo, who netted 16 points and Kaden Castillo, who finished with 14 points. Keshan Holmes tallied six points, while Trace Goodman netted three points and Alex Alvarez and Josh Samaron each finished with two points in the game.

The Wolverines closed out the regular season on Tuesday with a home game against Cotton Center. Results were not available at press time.
