The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity baseball team took down the Muleshoe Mules at home on Tuedsay, 13-6, to sweep the season series.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 4-5 in district play.
Blayton Soliz pitched five innings for the Wildcats giving up nine hits, two walks and four runs, three earned, while striking out seven batters. Ana Ayala pitched two innings, giving up two hits, three walks and two runs, one earned, while striking out three batters.
Muleshoe jumped out in front early with two runs in the top of the first, but Littlefield would match them with two runs in the bottom half, making the score, 2-2. In the second frame, Littlefield would add a run in the bottom half of the inning to take a, 3-2, lead, but it was short- lived, as Muleshoe added a run in the top of the third to tie the game, 3-3.
The Wildcats scratched a run in the home-half of the third to take a, 4-3, advantage into the fourth inning. The Wildcats blanked the Mules in the top of the fourth, before plating five runs in the bottom half of the inning, stretching their lead to, 9-3. Muleshoe added a run in the top of the fifth and two runs in the sixth, but Littlefield pushed two runs across in each of the last two innings to help secure a, 13-6, victory.
At the plate, the Wildcats totaled 10 hits and seven walks, led by Kyzer Billingsley, who chipped in three hits, one walk and an RBI. Cayson Villarreal tallied two hits and two RBI’s, while Ana Ayala added two hits and an RBI, and Jayden Kirkland chipped in two hits, one walk and one RBI.
Carlos Almance drew three walks, while Dawson Adkins contributed one hit and one walk, and Gabe Mata finished with one walk in the contest.
The Wildcats were at Roosevelt on Thursday for their second meeting with the Eagles. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a road game against Friona.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
