The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team went on the road and took down the Slaton Tigers on Tuesday, 78-62.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 11-2 overall on the year.
The Wildcats jumped out to a, 20-15, lead through the end of the first quarter, but Slaton clawed their way back into it, outscoring the Wildcats, 17-15, in the second frame to cut the lead to, 35-32, going into the locker room at halftime.
Littlefield would bounce back in the second half, as they outscored the Tigers, 18-12, in the third quarter, and, 25-18, in the fourth quarter to take the non-district matchup, 78-62.
Kam McCarty led the team in scoring with 22 points, to go along with three rebounds, two steals and two rebounds, while he was joined in double figures scoring by Omar Martinez, who tallied 17 points, four steals, two rebounds and two assists.
MJ Randle also finished in double-figures scoring with 12 points, three steals, three assists and two rebounds, while Ryan William tallied 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Ja’Den Williams chipped in seven points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals, while Jayden Barrio contributed six points, three rebounds and one steal, and Jeremiah Trevino finished with four points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block.
The Wildcats hosted Lubbock Christian on Saturday to close out the pre-district schedule. Results were not available at press time. They will open district play on Tuesday on the road against Brownfield.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
