Wildcats fall in game one to Shallowater, 10-0

The Littlefield Wildcats’ began game one of their Regional Quarterfinal series with the Shallowater Mustangs, but shortly after the first inning got underway, the game was delayed by lighting and postponed to Friday shortly after.

Prior to the game being postponed, Markus Rosales drew a lead-off walk and Isaiah Rodriguez laid down a sacrifice bunt that was fielded by Swanson and thrown to first for an out, as Rosales advanced to second on the play. Major McNeese drew a walk to make it runners on first and second, but Brenden Bowman flew out to left field for out number two.

Ian Mendez was up to bat when the game was delayed at 5:12 p.m.

When the game resumed on Friday, Mendez popped up to Carter at first base to retire the side.

Shallowater scored sporadically throughout the game, tallying a run in the first and third inning, before breaking it open in the bottom of the fourth with four runs, to make the score, 6-0. The Mustangs would add three runs in the fifth, before pushing their 10th run across in the bottom of the sixth to walk off with a, 10-0, run rule victory in game one over the Wildcats.

At the plate, the Wildcats had two hits and three walks as a team. Gabe Villanueva andAdam MacDonald had the Wildcats’two hits, while Rosales, McNeese and Mendez each finished with a walk.

Chip Green started on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching 3.2 innings, while giving up four hits, two walks and five runs, two earned. He also had four strikeouts. Rosales pitched 1.1 innings, giving up four hits and four runs, while Xavier Champion pitched 0.1 innings, giving up two hits, one walk and one run.
