The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity football team saw their season come to an end on Thursday, at Dick Bivins Stadium inAmarillo, as they fell in the Class 3A Bi-district round of the playoffs to the Canadian Wildcats, 65-7.
With the loss, the Wildcats close out the season with an overall mark of 6-5.
The Wildcats totaled 89 yards of offense, including 57 rushing yards and 32 passing yards.
Canadian got on the board first, as Camren Cavalier rushed for a four-yard touchdown run followed with the PAT by Emiliano Hernandez to put them in front, 7-0. Littlefield was forced to punt the ball away, and on Canadian’s next possession, Cavalier connected with Preston Neumeier for a 54-yard touchdown pass. The PAT from Hernandez was good, stretching their lead to, 140.
After another Littlefield punt, Canadian drove from their own 18-yard line, capping off the drive with a 16yard touchdown pass, as Cavalier connected with Luke Flowers for the score. The PAT from Hernandez sailed through the uprights, making the score, 21-0.
With five minutes to go in the opening quarter, Cavalier hit Mx Dumbauld for a 28-yard touchdown pass, followed with the PAT from Hernandez to stretch their lead to, 28-0. Cavalier followed it up with a four-yard rushing touchdown and the PAT made it, 35-0. With under one minute to play in the quarter, Cavalier competed a 13yard touchdown pass to Neumeier to stretch their lead to, 42-0, as the first quarter came to a close.
Littlefield punted the ball away to open the second frame, and Canadian answered, as Cavalier completed a three-yard touchdown pass to Camden Cook. The PAT was no good, leaving the score, 48-0. After a Littlefield punt, Cavalier hit Dumbauld for a 33-yard touchdown pass, followed with the PAT by Hernandez to push their lead to, 55-0.
Cavalier added an 18-yard rushing touchdown, followed with the PAT by Hernandez, stretching the lead to, 62-0, going into the locker room at halftime.
Late in the third quarter, Hernandez drilled a 39-yard field goal to push their lead to, 65-0, going into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Chip Green broke loose for a 54-yard rushing touchdown and the PAT was good, trimming the lead to 65-7, as Canadian took the bi-district contest.
Green finished the game, four-of-16 passing for 32 yards and one interception; he also added 15 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown.
Major McNeese tallied four carries for seven yards.
In the receiving game, Omar Martinez hauled in three catches for 23 yards, while MJ Randle tallied one catch for nine yards.
