Wildcats cruise past Bulldogs, 62-49

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team improved to 2-0 overall on the season on Friday with a, 62-49, victory over the Tahoka Bulldogs at Wildcat Gymnasium.

The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs, 25-11, behind 10 firstquarter points from Elijah Salazar. However, Tahoka would battle back to outscore the Wildcats, 1510, in the second frame, behind five points from Ruben Arguillo, making the score, 35-26, going into the locker room at halftime.

Tahoka kept the momentum going in the third quarter, as Brogan Stone knocked down a pair of threes and Bryayn Mann added five points to help trim the Littlefield lead to, 47-42, heading into the final quarter of play.

Tahoka outscored the Wildcats, 17-15, in the fourth quarter, but Littlefield held on for the, 62-49, victory.

Jeremiah Trevino led the team in scoring with 16 points and he was joined in double-figures scoring by Salazar, who netted 14 points. Omar Martinez tallied eight points, while Chip Green and Zeke Saenz each poured in seven points and Kam McCarty contributed three points. Ian Mendez and Major McNeese each finished with one point in the contest.

The Wildcats hosted Post on Monday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Nov. 29th when they travel to Idalou to take on the Wildcats.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
