The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team went 2-0-1 at the Slaton Tournament this past weekend, earning wins over Lockney and Roosevelt and tying with Sanford-Fritch.
In their first game against Lockney, they Nettes took down the Lady Horns, 137.
Danielle Mitchell pitched 3.2 innings for the Nettes, giving up 13 hits and seven runs, four earned, while striking out four batters.
Sudan got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning, but Lockney answered with a three-run bottom half of the inning to make the score, 32. Sudan responded in the top of the second inning with four runs, but the Lady Horns would add another three spot in the bottom half of the second to tie the game, 6-6.
The Nettes would push two runs across in the top of the third and five in the top of the fourth to secure the victory, 13-7.
The Nettes tallied 11 hits as a team. Lillianna Sanchez led the Nettes at the plate, going 2-3 with a double and a triple and three RBI’s. Mitchell also recorded two hits, including a double and a walk, while Reyna Limon also tallied two hits and an RBI. Danalei Kelley recorded a hit and an RBI, while Kalissa Harris added one hit, one walk and an RBI, and Andrea Williams chipped in one hit and one walk.
Daniella Ramirez finished with one hit, two walks and an RBI, while Piper Pool recorded one hit in the contest.
In their next game against Roosevelt, the Nettes defeated the Lady Eagles, 106.
Danalei Kelley pitched three innings for the Nettes, giving up seven hits, five walks and six runs, while earning two strikeouts.
Sudan got out to a hot start against the Lady Eagles, pushing six runs across in the top of the first and they added another in the top of the second to make the score, 7-0, going to the third inning. In the top of the third, the Nettes added three more runs, but the Lady Eagles responded with six runs in the bottomhalf of the inning, as Sudan took the contest, 10-6.
The Nettes totaled seven hits as a team. Mitchell led the way for the Nettes with a triple, a walk and two RBI’s, while Sanchez tallied two hits, including a double, one walk and two RBI’s, and Scarlett Pool chipped in one hit and two RBI’s. Williams recorded two walks and an RBI, while Kynleigh Green contributed one hit, two walks and an RBI. Kelley also had one hit and an RBI in the contest.
In their game on Friday, the Nettes tied with Sanford-Fritch, 5-5.

Sudan struck first with three runs in the top of the first inning, and both teams tallied a run in the second inning to make the score, 41, going into the third inning. The Nettes were held scoreless in the top of the inning, and the Lady Eagles pushed two runs across to cut the lead to, 4-3.
Sudan would add a run in the top of the fourth, but Sanford-Fritch responded with two runs in the homehalf of the inning, as the game ended in a tie, 5-5.
Sudan tallied six hits as a team. Mitchell led the Nettes with two hits, including a homerun and a double and three RBI’s, while Andrea Williams had a homerun, one walk and one RBI. Maya Williams recorded a double and an RBI, while Scarlett Pool and Harris each added a hit and Kyndal Wilson tallied one walk in the contest.
