The Olton Mustang’s varsity football team racked up multiple post-season awards, led by District 2-2A Offensive MVP Selection senior, Logan Lassiter.
First team All-District offensive selections include: senior receivers, Joel Olivas Jr. and Jake Soliz; Center Grady Roberts; guard Paul Lopez and kicker Lassiter.
First team All-District defensive selections were Defensive end, Damian Marquez; inside linebacker, Jacob Marquez; outside linebacker, Eddy Medrano and cornerback, Osvaldo Rodriguez.
Second team All-district offensive selections were tight end Alan Vasquez and tackle Josh Villanueva, while second team defensive selections were defensive end, Michael Matute; safety, Jacob Escobar and punter Andrew Martinez.
Offensive Tackle, Chris Cabrera, was named the Mustang Newcomer of the Year, while Mustang Utility Player of the Year went to Andrew Martinez, Receiver, Safety and Punter.
All-District Honorable Mention went to Guard, Matute; receiver, Nate Urbina; running back, Fabian Gutierrez; defensive line, Christian Chancy; defensive line, Lopez; cornerback, Eddie Ramirez and linebacker, Roberts.
“We are really proud of all our All-District football players,” Head Coach Ross Lassiter said. “It's a nice way to end a good season by recognizing the hard work of our kids. These kids earned those honors way before the season started by being dedicated throughout the summer in the weight room all the way through 2-a-day workouts and the long hours after school each day during the season. They really put in the work to earn that recognition.”
