Olton falls to Ropes, 49-0

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity football team fell to the Ropes Eagles on Friday, 49-0, on the road.

With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 2-2 overall on the season.

Ropes came out of the gates on fire with four first quarter touchdowns, including a pick-six, to take a, 28-0, lead into the second frame.

The Eagles would add a 28-yard pass in the second quarter for a touchdown to push their lead to, 35-0, going into the locker room at halftime.

In the fourth quarter quarter, the Eagles would score on an 11-yard touchdown run and a 42-yard touchdown pass, taking the contest, 49-0.

Offensively, Brady Azam finished the game 5-16 passing for 35 yards and three interceptions.

Fabian Gutierrez led the rushing attack with six carries for 54 yards, while Nathaniel Ruiz tallied 12 carries for seven yards.

In the receiving game, Alan Vasquez caught two balls for 29 yards, while Manny Carrasco finished with one catch for eight yards.

Defensively, Emmitt Nelson led the way for the Mustangs with 11 total tackles, three for loss and one sack, while Gutierrez added nine tackles, one for loss and Adolfo Garcia finished with five tackles, one for loss. Victor Reyes added three tackles and an interception

The Mustangs will close out the pre-district schedule on Friday with a road game against Vega.
