The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team won their seasonopener over Trinity Christian last Saturday, 59-49.
With the win, they open the season 1-0.
Sudan jumped out to a, 19-6, lead in the opening frame and never looked back. Trinity Christian responded with 13 points in the second quarter, but Sudan led, 28-19, going into the locker room at halftime.
Trinity Christian cut the lead to, 41-38, in the third quarter, after outscoring the Nettes, 19-13, but Sudan responded in the final frame, outscoring their opponent, 18-11, to take the contest, 59-49.
The Nettes were led by Edette Herrera, who finished with 15 points, six steals, two rebounds and two assists, while Erica Herrera tallied nine points, five rebounds, five steals and one assist, and Haylee Toscano chipped in nine points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal.
Masyn Provence tallied seven points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block, while Kaileigh Greenwalt contributed seven points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Addison Cornelius added six points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Andrea Williams chipped in three points and four rebounds, and Raquel Armendariz added one rebound and one steal.
Journey Baker finished with three points in the contest.
