The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team was in action on Friday at the O.W. Follis Basketball Tournament in Lamesa, as they took down Permian, 66-33, and Sweetwater, 85-19, to improve to 3-1 in tournament play on the weekend.
Sudan jumped out to a, 22-10, lead against Permian, and added 14 points in the second frame to take a, 36-21, lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Nettes outscored Permian, 217, in the third quarter and, 9-5, in the final frame to take the contest, 66-33.
Stevi Lockhart led the Nettes against Permian with 19 points, to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and one steal, while Gracyn Shultz tallied 15 points, five steals, two assists and two rebounds. Blessy Montes contributed 11 points, one rebound and one assist, while Braelyn Pointer finished with nine points, five steals, four rebounds and one assist.
Elaine Martinez chipped in four points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Edette Herrera contributed three points, three rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist and Landree Gonzales added three points and three rebounds. Kambry Tolbert tallied two points, two rebounds and two steals, while Brianna Sanchez finished with one rebound in the contest.
Against Sweetwater, Sudan came out hot with a, 26-point first quarter. They added another 26 points in the second frame to take a, 52-9, lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Nettes outscored Sweetwater, 16-6, and in the final frame, the Nettes poured in 17 points to take the contest, 85-19.
Lockhart led the Nettes against Sweetwater with 22 points, five assists, five steals, two rebounds, while Montes chipped in 12 points, six steals, one assist and one rebound, and Shultz contributed 12 points, five steals, three rebounds, three assists and one block.
Pointer chipped in 10 points, four steals, two assists and one rebound, while Martinez added nine points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists, and Gonzales finished with eight points, four rebounds, three blocks and one steal.
Herrera added six points, four rebounds and three assists, while Tolbert added five points, five rebounds and two assists and Sanchez finished with one point, four steals, two assists and one rebound.
