The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team came up short against Tahoka on November 23rd, falling to the Lady Dogs, 58-52.
With the loss, the Nettes fall to 4-5 overall on the year.
Tahoka jumped out to an eightpoint lead in the first quarter, netting 20 points to take a, 20-12, lead into the second frame. Sudan, though, would chip away, pouring in 16 points in the second quarter to cut the lead to, 33-28, going into the locker room at halftime.
The Nettes outscored the Lady Dogs, 12-11, in the third quarter to make it a four-point Tahoka lead 44-40, going into the final quarter of play, but Tahoka would outscore Sudan, 14-12, in the final quarter to take the contest, 58-52. Addison Cornelius led the team, posting a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with three assists and three steals. Haylee Toscano tallied nine points, six steals, two assists and one rebound, and Erica Herrera tallied eight points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block.
Lexi Jennings contributed six points, four rebounds and one steal, while Andrea Williams chipped in four points, two rebounds and one assist, and Edette Herrera added four points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kaileigh Greenwlt tallied three points, seven steals, one rebound and one assist, while Emry Humphreys chipped in two points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist and Kalissa Harris finished with one point and one rebound. The Nettes hosted the Ropes Lady Eagles on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Thursday at the Lamesa Tournament. Games times are TBA.
