The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team fell on the road to the Hale Center Lady Owls, 9-3, in their first meeting of district play.
With the loss, the Nettes fall to 11-8-1, 2-1 in district play.
Sudan got on the board first in the top of the first inning with one run, but Hale Center answered in the home-half of the first with two runs. Sudan tied the game in the top of the second inning, but the Lady Owls would respond with four runs in the bottom of the third to make the score, 6-2.
Sudan would add a run in the top of the fifth, but Hale Center answered with three runs in the sixth to take the contest, 9-3.
Danielle Mitchell pitched six innings, giving up 10 hits, two walks and nine runs, four of which were earned. She also struck out four batters.
At the plate, Haylee Toscano tallied two hits and an RBI, while Daniella Ramirez chipped in two hits, one walk and an RBI, and Lillianna Sanchez contributed two hits, one walk and an RBI. Kalissa Harris tallied two hits in the contest, while Danalei Kelley added a hit and Mitchell finished with two hits in the contest.
The Nettes hosted Hale Center on Saturday for their second meeting of the season. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday at home against Abernathy.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
