Nettes fall to Lady Wind on the road, 74-65

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team suffered their first loss of district play, as they fell on the road to the Floydada Lady Wind, 74-65.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 12-5 overall, 1-1 in district play.

Floydada took an eight-point lead through the first quarter, 1810, but the Lady Wind erupted for 22 points in the second frame to take a, 40-25, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Both teams tallied 17 points in the third quarter, making the score, 57-42, going into the final quarter of play. Sudan netted 23 points in the fourth quarter, but their comeback fell short, 74-65, in the district match-up.

Melo Rodriguez tallied 18 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Blessy Montes contributed 13 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal, and Edette Herrera, chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, six steals and one assist.

Addison Cornelius tallied 10 points, six rebounds and two steals, while Kaileigh Greenwalt contributed seven points, two rebounds and two steals, and Haylee Toscano added five points, two assists and one rebound. Lexi Jennings added one point and one rebound and Emry Humphreys finished with one steal.

The Nettes hosted Ralls on Tuesday as District play continued. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season after Christmas when they host Sands for a non- district match-up.
