Nettes fall to Hale Center to close out regular season

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team fell to the Hale Center Lady Owls on Tuesday, 60-52, to close out the regular season.

The Nettes will head into the play-offs with a mark of 18-13 overall, 5-5.

Sudan got off to a slow start in the first quarter, falling behind, 144. The Nettes would bounce back in the second frame, netting 13 points, trimming the lead to, 3017, going into the locker room at halftime.

Sudan came out strong to begin the second half, outscoring Hale Center, 24-12, to cut the lead to, 42-41, going into the final quarter of play. However, in the fourth quarter, Hale Center would outscore the Nettes, 18-11, taking the contest, 60-52.

The Nettes were led in scoring by Edette Herrera, who finished with 10 points, to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Erica Herrera tallied nine points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block, and Haylee Toscano contributed nine points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Kaileigh Greenwalt chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, four steals and one assist, while Masyn Provence contributed eight points and four rebounds, and Addison Cornelius added three points, six rebounds and one assist. Kalissa Harris tallied three points and one steal, while Emry Humphreys finished with two points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Nettes will take on New Home on Monday at Lubbock-Cooper High School in the Class 2A small school bi-district playoffs.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
