Nettes come up short against Ropes, 64-61

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team came up short against the Ropes Eagles on Tuesday in Sudan, 64-61.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 4-6 overall on the year.

Sudan poured in 15 points in the opening quarter, but trailed the Lady Eagles, 19-15, at the end of the first quarter. However, Sudan would pour in 22 points in the second frame to take a, 37-30, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Ropes, though, would rally back in the third quarter, as they netted 17 points to regain the lead, 47-46, going into the final quarter of play. In the final quarter, Ropes edged out the Nettes, 17-15, to take the contest, 64-61.

Haylee Toscano led the team in scoring with 19 points, to go along with three steals, one assist and one rebound, while Addison Cornelius joined her in double-figures scoring with 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Edette Herrera tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals, while Lexi Jennings contributed nine points, four rebounds and one steal.

Kaileigh Greenwalt tallied four points, three rebounds and three steals, while Erica Herrera chipped in three points, two rebounds, one steal and one block and Andrea Williams added two points and two rebounds. Emry Humphreys finished with two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
