The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night with a, 74-39, victory on the road against the Vega Lady Horns.
With the win, the Nettes improved to 1-1 overall on the season.
The Nettes erupted for 34 points out of the game, taking a, 34-21, lead into the second quarter of play. They outscored the Lady Horns, 23-14, in the second frame to make the score, 57-35, going into the locker room at halftime.
The Nettes outscored the Lady Horns, 17-4, in the second half to take the contest, 74-39.
Sudan had three girls finish in double-figures scoring, behind senior, Stevi Lockhart, who netted 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks. Senior, Gracyn Shultz, tallied 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block, while Senior, Braelyn Pointer, chipped in 10 points, two steals, one rebound and one assist.
Blessy Montes contributed six points and three assists, while Edette Herrera tallied six points, two steals, one rebound and one assist, and Melo Rodriguez added three points and one rebound. Senior, Landree Gonzales chipped in three points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Elaine Martinez added four rebounds, one assist and one steal, and senior, Kambry Tolbert, contributed three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Brianna Sanchez added one rebound in the contest.
The Nettes will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Lubbock Christian High School to take on the Lady Eagles.
Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
