Mustangs rally past Ralls, 11-7

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity baseball team battled back on Tuesday to rally past Ralls, 11-7, for their first district win of the season.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 4- 8- 1 overall, 1-1 in district play.

Dax Light pitched three innings for the Mustangs, giving up five hits, five walks and six runs, five earned, while earning two strikeouts. Paytn Jimenez pitched four innings, giving up one hit, two walks and one unearned run, while earning three strikeouts.

Each team scratched a run across in the first inning, and the Mustangs added a run in the top of the second to make the score, 2- 1. Ralls would push five runs across in the bottom of the third to take a, 6-2, lead into the fourth inning.

Olton would battle back, scoring a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to make the score, 6-4, heading into the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth, the Mustangs would plate three runs to take a, 7-6, lead into the final inning. Olton scratched four runs in the top of the seventh, before shutting out the Jackrabbits in the home-half of the inning to take the contest, 127.

At the plate, the Mustangs totaled 13 hits and four walks, led by Cesar Ceballos, who had a homerun, a walk and two RBI’s. Rigo Galvan had two hits, including a triple, one walk and three RBI’s, while Jett Tomsu chipped in two hits, an RBI and four stolen bases, and Callen Burns recorded two hits.

Wyatt Francis added three hits, while Alex Green contributed two hits and a walk, and RJ Chavira added one hit. Jimenez drew a walk and had four stolen bases.

The Mustangs hosted Ralls on Saturday for their second meeting with the Jackrabbits. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home game against New Deal.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
