Lady Wolverines place third at state XC Meet

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ cross country team returned home with some hardware on Saturday, as they placed third as a team at the 1A State Cross Country Meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.

The Lady Wolverines were led by junior, Taytum Goodman, who claimed her third consecutive State XC Meet Gold Medal, blazing to a time of 11:11.2. Goodman, who already holds the 1A girl’s fastest time state record, also set the record this year for largest winning margin across all conferences.

With her third consecutive state title in 1A girl’s cross country, Goodman also accomplished something that hasn’t been done since the early 90’s when Stephanie Duke of Utopia threepeated as 1A girl’s State Cross Country Champion from19901992.

Also finishing in the top five was freshman, Aabriella Villanueva, who finished fifth overall with a time of 12:50.8. Junior, Emma Samaron, finished 26th overall, clocking a time of 13:43.5, while sophomore, Rylie Furr, finished 45th overall with a time of 14:19.1.

Sophomore, Aryca Ibarra, finished 49th with a time of 14:30.0, while senior, Jenna Bridges, finished 69th with a time of 15:14.4, and sophomore, Marisela Rodriguez, finished 72nd with a time of 15:20.9.

This Lady Wolverines’ team third-place finish is the highest ranked finish by any Lady Wolverines’ cross country team.
