The Springlake- Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity cross country team competed in Round Rock on Friday morning at the State Cross Country Meet, which took place at Old Settler’s Park.
The Lady Wolverines placed fourth as a team with 131 points.
They were led by senior, Taytum Goodman, who completed the 4- peat as the 1A Girl’s Cross Country State Champion, capturing first place with a time of 11: 20.10. She becomes the first 1A female athlete to 4- peat as the 1A girl’s state champion since Stephanie Duke of Utopia did in from 1990- 1994. She also holds the top four fastest times in 1A Texas cross country history, including the 1A girl’s State record of 10:59.36, set during the 2021- 2022 season.
Sophomore, Aabriella Villanueva, finished 31st overall with a time of 12:12.5, while junior, Aryca Ibarra, finished 35th overall with a time of 13: 17.1, and senior, Emma Samaron, finished 62nd with a time of 13:46.4.
Junior, Rylie Furr, finished 87th overall with a time of 14:07.6, while freshman, Yareli Cortez, finished 90th with a time of 14:16.9, and junior, Marisela Rodriguez, finished 126th overall with a time of 15:18.2.
