Lady Wolverines drop nail-biter to Dumas, 45-44

The Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines’ varsity basketball team dropped a nail-biter to the Dumas Demonettess on Tuesday in the consolation bracket, 45-44.

With the loss, the Lady Wolverines fall to 0-2 in tournament play.

The game was knotted up after one quarter, 5-5, but the Demonettes were able to take a five-point lead into the locker room at halftime, 19-14. The Lady Wolverines clawed their way back into the game in the third quarter, slicing the lead to one point, 31-30, heading into the final quarter of play.

Both teams poured in 14 points in the fourth quarter as Dumas edged out Springlake-Earth, 45- 44, to move to the Consolation bracket final.

Halee Toscano tallied 15 points, while Sayler Beerwinkle notched 14 points, and Mahalia Delgado netted five points. Taytum Goodman contributed four points, while Jasmine Garcia, DD Delgado and Emma Samaron each finished with two points.
