The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity softball team runruled the Idalou Lady Cats on Friday on the road in five innings, 14-0.
With the win the Lady Cats improve to 7-2 in district play.
Amaya McCanick pitched five innings for the Lady Cats, givnig up one hit and one walk, while earning eight strikeouts.
Littlefield jumped out in front early with nine runs in the top of the first inning. Both teams would go scoreless through the second and third innings, before, Littlefield added a run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to take the contest, 140.
The Lady Cats totaled nine hits and eight walks as a team, led by Hannah Lopez, who had a grand slam and a double, while tallying five RBI’s. Abby Rodriguez tallied a triple, a double, two walks and an RBI, while Maggie McNeese had a hit and three RBI’s. Bryndle Ray had a hit and two walks, while Sohia Mata added two hits, and McCanick tallied two walks in the contest.
Isaihla Garza drew two walks in the contest, while Brianna Aleman tallied two RBI’s and Tailyn Gomez finished with a hit and an RBI.
The Lady Cats hosted Muleshoe for senior night on Monday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Saturday with a road game against Roosevelt.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
