The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team fell on the road to Shallowater on Saturday, 0-3, in their first meeting of district play.
With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 0-2 in district play.
Shallowater opened set one on an, 0-3, scoring run, before London Taylor delivered a kill off of the dig attempt by Carli Buckley, making the score, 1-3. Buckley would answer with a kill past the block attempt from Maggie McNeese, sparking a four-point rally, that ended when Emma Clawson sent a kill sailing out of bounds on the sideline, making the score, 2-7.
Clawson responded with a kill past Faith Balderas, as the Fillies put together another four- point rally, stretching their lead to, 2-12. Clawson sent a kill sailing out of bounds, as Littlefield regained the serve, but it was short- lived, as the serve from Tailyn Gomez landed out of bounds, making the score, 3-13.
A dig by Gomez fell in for a kill for Littlefield, and Emie Lusk was called for being on the net during the next play, trimming the lead to, 5-13. Balderas and Taylor Wood exchanged serves out of bounds, and Bryndle Ray sent a serve out of bounds as well, pushing the lead to, 6-15.
Madison Williams sent a kill past Wood, but her serve on the next play landed out of bounds, making the score, 7- 16. The Fillies would close out the set on a, 2-9, scoring run to take set one, 9-25.
The Fillies opened set two on a, 0-10 scoring run, before Jorja McGuire sent a serve sailing out of bounds. Shallowater would respond with a kill, but McNeese answered right back with a kill of her own to make the score, 2-11. Taylor sent a serve short of the net and Williams sent a hit into the net on the next play, stretching the Fillies’ lead to, 2-13.
Lusk dropped a tip over Balderas for a kill and a tip from Kealee Bussey landed out of bounds on the sideline, making the score, 2-15. Piper Noble sent a serve sailing out of bounds for the Fillies, and Shallowater was called for being across the net on the next play, trimming the lead to, 4-15.
Clawson had a hit blocked by Taylor for a kill, but the next serve from Balderas landed short of the net, stretching the lead back out to, 5-16. McGuire delivered a kill off of Gomez, but Lopez answered with a tip off of Lusk for a kill, making the score, 6-17.
Shallowater sent a hit out of bounds on the next play, but Littlefield couldn’t capitalize on it, as Ray’s next serve sailed out of bounds, making the score, 7- 18. Buckley delivered a kill for the Fillies and a kill by McGuire was tipped out of bounds by Balderas, making the score, 7-20.
A kill attempt by Lusk sailed out of bounds, but Buckley answered with a kill off of the block attempt from Lopez, making the score, 821. Aniston Vanatta sent a serve short of the net, and Lopez followed it up with an ace to trim the lead to, 1021. Buckley had a hit land out of bounds on the sideline for the Fillies, but McGuire responded with a kill for Shallowater, extending the lead to, 11-22.
McNeese delivered a kill off of McGuire, but Vanatta answered with a tip over McNeese for a kill, making the score, 12-23. Buckley sent a serve short of the net and Clawson sent a kill attempt into the net on the next play, cutting the lead to, 1423. A kill on the next play by Clawson was dug into the net by Williams, however, Littlefield would respond, as McNeese delivered a kill off of the block attempt from Clawson, making the score, 15-24.
A serve from Balderas went un- returned by Shallowater, and Clawson’s tip on the next play was blocked by Lopez for a kill, slicing the lead to, 17-24. Lusk, though, would deliver a kill at the net to end the set, 17-25, putting the Fillies in front, 0- 2 in the match.
Shallowater opened set three on an, 0-3, scoring run, before Cobi Saldana dropped in a tip for a kill to make the score, 1-3. Buckley was blocked by McNeese for a kill, but Avery Schoor answerd on the next play with a tip that was tipped out of bounds by Saldana, making the score, 2-4.
Buckley served up an ace off Balderas and she followed it up with back-toback aces to make the score, 2-7. McNeese delivered a block on Bryna Crawford for a kill, as Littlefield took a time out to talk things over. Out of the break, Saldana was called for being on the net, but Shallowater couldn’t capitalize, as Buckley sent a serve short of the net, making the score, 3-9.
Clawson delivered a kill off of the block attempt from McNeese, but McNeese would answer with a kill that was tipped out of bounds by McGuire, trimming the lead to, 4-10. Clawson dropped in a tip off of Kami Silveira for a kill and Lusk followed it up with a kill off of Balderas, extending their lead to, 4-11.
Clawson delivered an ace off of Balderas, but Wood sent a hit short of the net on the next play, making the score, 5-12. Crawford delivered a block on Williams for a kill and Wood followed it up with an ace off of Taylor to stretch their lead to, 5-14.
Buckley delivered a kill off of the block attempt by Lopez and Lusk delivered a kill off of Balderas to extend their lead to, 5-16. Buckley sent a kill past Gomez, as Shallowater would put together a four-point rally, that ended when Lopez delivered a kill off of Wood, making the sore, 6-21.
Jaci Fenter was called for a lift, but Buckley answered with a kill at the net on the next play, making the score, 7-22. A long dig by Balderas was killed at the net by Buckley, but McGuire was called for being on the net during the next play, making the score, 8-23. Lopez killed a ball at the net, but the next serve from Littlefield landed out of bounds, making the score, 9-24.
Mattie Seymore dropped a kill in front of McGuire, but Shallowater ended it with a kill on the next play to take the set, 10-25, and the match, 0-3.
