The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team fell to the Ropes Lady Eagles on Tuesday, 0-2, in the second match of their dual.
With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 5-10 overall on the year.
In set one, Mattie Seymore delivered a kill attempt that landed out of bounds for the Lady Cats, but Maggie McNeese would answer with a block at the net and Lila Forsythe would be called for a double-hit trying to play the ball at the net to tie the set, 1-1. Addie Mae Falls delivered a kill past Madison Williams, but McNeese answered with a kill off of Forsythe, keeping the match tied, 2-2.
Lily Greer sent a kill attempt sailing out of bounds for the Lady Eagles and Williams followed it up with a kill past Allye Bandy, off of the set from Bryndle Ray, making the score, 4-2. Tailyn Gomez tipped the net for an ace with her serve and on the next play, Braedyn Reyna sent a hit into the net, pushing the Littlefield lead to, 6-2. Gomez kept it going with back-toback aces, as Ropes took a time out to talk things over.
Out of the break, Forsythe delivered a kill over Gomez andAddie Mae Falls followed it up with a kill that was tipped out of bounds by Gomez on the back row, making the score, 8-4. Forsythe sent a serve sailing out of bounds for the Lady Eagles, but the Lady Cats were called for being out of position during the serve by Faith Balderas, trimming the lead to, 9-5.
Bandy dropped in a tip off of Cobi Saldana for a kill, but the Lady Cats would capture the next point to make the score, 10-6, as they regained the serve. A serve from Ray went unreturned by Ropes andAddi Crunk sent a dig into the net, pushing the Littlefield lead back out to, 12-6. Ray couldn’t keep it going, as she sent a serve out of bounds, giving it back to the Lady Eagles with the score, 12-7.
A kill attempt from Saldana landed out of bounds and Nevaeh Lopez sent a hit into the net, making the score, 129. Ropes’ rally continued as they delivered a block for a kill, but Bandy followed it up with a kill that landed out of bounds making the score, 1310. Williams couldn’t keep the serve in play, sparking a seven-point rally for Ropes that ended when Reyna sent a serve sailing out of bounds to make the score, 14-17.
Lopez served up an ace off of Annabelle Falls before London Taylor was blocked by Forsythe for a kill on the next play to extend the lead to, 15-18. Bandy served up an ace and Addie Mae Falls followed it up with a kill off of Balderas, stretching the lead to, 15-20. McNeese was called for touching the net on a tip, but Bandy’s next serve fell short of the net, making the score, 16-21.
Ropes sent a tip into the net, but Littlefield couldn’t capitalize, as Saldana had a serve fall short of the net, making the score, 17-22. Vivian Gallegos served up an ace for the Lady Eagles before sending her next serve out of bounds to make the score, 1823. McNeese followed it up with a kill and a serve from Gomez went unreturned, but Ropes would answer, as Addie Mae Falls delivered a kill between Balderas and Brittani Wright and Ray sent a hit into the net to close out the set, 20-25.
In set two, Littlefield jumped out to a fast start, as Seymore dropped in a tip that was tipped out of bounds by Annabelle Falls to make the score, 10. Marlee Molina sent a hit into the net for Ropes and Saldana had a hit fall in for a kill off of the block attempt by Forsythe, pushing their lead to, 30.
Annabelle Falls sent a hit into the net for Ropes, but the Lady Cat rally ended with a tip into the net by Seymore, making the score, 4-1. McNeese had a kill attempt land out of bounds for Littlefield and Rylee Taylor had a tip fall in for a kill, making the score, 4-3. Kendall Little sent a hit into the net for Ropes, but Forsythe answered for the Lady Eagles, dropping a kill in front of the block attempt by McNeese and Seymore, making it a one-point game, 5-4.
Brylee Lauderdale delivered a block for a kill, but Forsythe’s next serve landed out of bounds, putting Littlefield back in front, 6-5. Ropes would respond, as Lauderdale had a kill tipped out of bounds by Gomez, tying the set, 6-6. Crunk served up an ace off of Balderas and Williams and McNeese sent back-to-back hits into the net, pushing their lead to, 6-9, as Littlefield called for a time out.
Out of the break, Williams delivered a kill through the block attempt of Little and Lauderdale, but Little answered with a kill off of Gomez to make the score, 7-10. Lopez dropped a tip in front of Molina for a kill, but Ray’s next serve fell short of the net, pushing the lead to, 8-11.
Williams sent a hit short of the net and Reyna’s serve went unreturned by Littlefield, stretching the lead to, 813. Reyna couldn’t keep the run going, as she sent a serve sailing out of bounds and Williams followed it up with an ace off of Reyna, trimming the lead to, 10-13. Bandy delivered a kill at the net off of a long dig by Williams and she followed it up with a kill off of the block attempt by Taylor and Lopez, making the score, 11-14.
Taylor sent a hit out of bounds and Annabelle Falls sent a hit into the net to make it a one-point game, before Lopez sent a serve sailing out of bounds to make the score, 13-15.Ahit from McNeese was tipped out of bounds by Taylor and London Taylor delivered a kill off of the block attempt by Forsythe to tie the set, 1515.
London Taylor kept it going with another kill off of the block attempt from Forsythe to gain the lead for Littlefield, 16-15, as Ropes took a time out to talk things over. Out of the break, McNeese sent a hit out of bounds and Little delivered a kill past Balderas, making the score, 16-17. London Taylor had a hit land out of bounds and Forsythe followed it up with an ace to push their lead to, 1619.
Rylee Taylor sent a kill attempt out of bounds on the sideline and Little had a hit land out of bounds as well to cut the lead to, 18-19. Gomez and Crunk exchanged serves short of the net and Lauderdale delivered a tip off of Gomez for a kill to make the score, 19-21. Lauderdale sent a hit into the net on the next play for Ropes and Ray delivered a tip in the back corner for a kill to tie the set, 21-21.
But, Ropes would go on a fourpoint rally to close out the set, 21-25, taking the match, 0-2.
The Lady Cats hosted Brownfield Saturday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday with a home dual against Lamesa and Dimmitt. Game times are TBA.
