Lady Cats fall on the road to Idalou, 0-3

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team fell on the road to the Idalou Lady Cats last Saturday, 03.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 1-5 in district play.

Brianna Fishback served up an ace off of London Taylor to open set one for Idalou, but Littlefield tied it up on the next play and Nevaeh Lopez followed it up with an ace off of Jayci McKinney, putting Littlefield in front, 2-1.

Hadley Underwood answered with a kill off of the block attempt by Maggie McNeese to tie the set, 22, but McNeese would respond with a kill off of Aaliyah Garcia to reclaim the lead for Littlefield, 3-2. Underwood sent a kill attempt out of bounds for Idalou, but a tip from Taylor on the next play didn’t make it over the net forcing a four hit call on Littlefield, trimming the lead to, 4-3.

Kambrie Roye sent a hit out of bounds on the sideline for Idalou, but Littlefield couldn’t capitalize, as Kamila Silveira sent a hit into the net and it was hit out of bounds by McNeese cutting the lead to, 5- 4. McNeese got called for a double hit to tie the set and Fishback followed it up with a kill past Faith Balderas, putting Idalou in front, 5-6.

McNeese sent a hit out of bounds and Roye followed it up with a kill in front of Madison Williams, before Idalou was called for four hits on the next play, making the score, 6-8. Taylor had a kill tipped out of bounds at the net by Idalou, but the next serve from Balderas sailed out of bounds, sparking a threepoint rally for Idalou, stretching the lead to, 7-11.

Jackie Alvidrez sent back-to-back kill attempts sailing out of bounds for Idalou, but Heidi Gentry sent a kill past Taylor to regain the serve for Idalou, making the score, 9-12. Balderas sent a hit short of the net, but Idalou came across the net on the next play to make the score, 1013.

Underwood dropped a kill in the back corner for Idalou and Cobi Saldana sailed a kill attempt out of bounds for Littlefield, stretching the lead to, 1015. Bryndle Ray delivered a kill for Littlefield, but Leyla Carmona delivered a kill off of Williams, starting a three- point rally, as Littlefield took a time out to talk things over. Out of the break, McKinney’s kill attempt landed out of bounds, trimming the lead to, 12-18.

Roye dropped a kill inside the back boundary line for Idalou and on the next play, a save by Mattie Seymore was tipped back over the net by Briley Stephens for a kill, pushing the lead to, 12-20. Saldana dropped a kill in front of Campbell Ross, but McNeese answered with a kill past McKinney, trimming the lead to, 14-20.

Kealee Bussey delivered a kill past McKinney, but Stephens answered with a kill off of Williams to make the score, 15-21. McNeese responded with a kill off of Underwood, but Idalou would again answer, as Fishback delivered a kill past Silveira, making the score, 16-22, as Littlefield took another time out.

Out of the break, Bussey was blocked by Underwood for a kill and Fishback delivered a kill off of the block attempt from Lopez, making the score, 17-23. Bussey tipped the net with a hit for a kill, but Taylor’s hit on the next play fell short of the net, making the score, 1824. Saldana delivered a kill off of Alvidrez’s block attempt, but Alvidrez would fire back on the next play with a kill to close out the set, 19-25.

McNeese had a kill land out of bounds to open set two, but Saldana answered with a tip off of Stephens for a kill to tie the set, 1-1. Saldana had a hit blocked by Stephens and Underwood for a kill, putting Idalou back in front, 12. Idalou would go on a, 05, scoring run, as Littlefield took a time out, trailing 1-7. Out of the break, McNeese delivered a kill off of the block attempt from Stephens and Roye’s kill attempt on the next play landed out of bounds, cutting the lead to, 3-7.

Silveira’s serve went unreturned by Idalou, but Underwood responded with a kill, making the score, 48. Ross was called for a double-hit, but Taylor had a kill tipped at the net before it fell in for a point, trimming the lead to, 6-8. Williams had a hit land out of bounds on the sideline and Lopez was blocked by Roye for a kill, pushing the lead back out to, 6-10.

McKinney had a serve fall short of the net for Idalou and Fishback sent a kill out of bounds on the next play, before Williams delivered a kill off of McKinney, slicing the Idalou lead to, 910. A serve from Taylor fell short of the net sparking a three-point Idalou rally, before Roye sent a serve out of bounds, making the score, 10-13.

Idalou would regain the serve before putting together a five-point rally that ended when Natalie Statk sent a serve short of the net, making the score, 11-18. McNeese delivered a tip off of a block attempt by Underwood and a hit from McKinney on the next play didn’t make it over the net, trimming the lead to, 13-18.

Idalou would close out set two on a, 1-7, scoring run to take the set, 14-25, putting them ahead 0-2 in the match.

In set three, Lopez delivered a kill off of Statk and Stephens was blocked by McNeese for a kill to make the score, 2-0. Saldana kept it going with a kill in the back corner and on the next play, a block on Saldana by Ross landed out of bounds, pushing Littlefield’s lead to, 4-0. Idalou would bounce back and tie the set, 6-6, after Underwood delivered an ace off of Balderas, but the kill attempt from Heidi Gentry on the next play landed out of bounds, putting Littlefield back in front, 76.

The teams went backand- forth before Lopez delivered back-to-back kills for Littlefield, making the score, 10-8. Two plays later, Idalou would tie the set, 1010, after Williams was called for coming across the net, but they couldn’t capitalize, as Fishback sent a hit out of bounds on the following play, making the score, 1110, as Littlefield regained the serve.

Littlefield would score back- to- back points on Idalou miscues, before Ray sent a serve sailing out of bounds, making the score, 13- 11. Idalou, though, would not go away, as they battle back and tied the set, 15-15, after Underwood served up an ace off of Balderas. Seymore mistimed a hit at the net, sparking a three- point Idalou rally, forcing Littlefield to take a time out, trailing, 15-18.

Out of the break, Seymore delivered a kill off of Stephens and Roye, but Stephens answered with a kill off of Silveira to make the score, 16-19. Roye sent a hit outside of the foul pole and McNeese followed it up with an ace off of McKinney to trim the lead to, 18-19. Seymore sailed a kill out of bounds to give the serve back to Idalou and Roye followed it up with an ace off of Tailyn Gomez, making the score, 18-21.

Idalou would close out set three on a, 1-4, scoring run to take the set, 19-25, and the match 0-3.
