The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team dropped a heart-breaker on Friday afternoon at home, falling to the Levelland Loboettes, 42-41.
With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 0-2 overall on the season.
In the first quarter, Levelland got a bucket from each Ellie Phillips, Olivia Velardez, Destynii Jones and Emery Smith, but Littlefield’s Jasmine Barrios, knocked down a three-ball, along with four points from Madison McNeese and five points from Kyndal Edgemon, putting the Lady Cats in front, 12-9, heading into quarter number two.
In the second frame, Jones and Adrenna Galvan each netted three points for Levelland, but Barrios drained another three along with four points from Kennadi Hanlin, as the Lady Cats led, 24-22, going into the locker room at halftime.
Carly Tienda poured in six points in the third quarter for Levelland, as McNeese knocked down a three for Littlefield, and Hanlin also added three points to knot the game, 30-30, going into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Leilani Sanchez and Smith each knocked down a three for the Loboettes, to secure the one-point victory for Levelland, despite, six fourth-quarter points from McNeese and four from Arianna Cruz.
McNeese led the Lady Cats in scoring with 13 points, and she was joined in double-figures scoring by Edgemon, who tallied 10 points. Hanlin chipped in seven points, while Barrios added six points and Cruz finished with five points.
The Lady Cats hosted the Roosevelt Lady Eagles on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will take on Tahoka on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
