Hornets take down Kangaroos, 67-43

The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team used a big first half to cruise past the Kress Kangaroos on Tuesday, 67-43.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 6-6 overall on the season.

The Hornets jumped out to a, 16- 4, lead in the first quarter, before pouring in 22 points in the second frame to take a, 38-16, lead into the locker room at halftime.

Both teams netted 17 points in the third quarter and Sudan outscored the Kangaroos, 1211, in the final frame to take the contest, 67- 43.

The Hornets were led by Jaibryen Ornelas, who posted a double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with five assists, three steals and two blocks. Joining him in double- figures scoring was Aspen Reyher, who tallied 20 points, eight rebounds, five steals, two blocks and one assist.

Brian Delgado chipped in eight points, two steals and one rebound, while Kye Polk contributed four points and two rebounds, and Marcello King tallied two points, four rebounds and three steals. Christian Delgado added two points, two steals and one assist, while Jacob Baker finished with two points, one steal and one block.

The Hornets will be back in action at the Wildcat Classic, which begins on Dec. 27th.
