The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team took down the Bovina Mustangs on Tuesday, 7852, to take the season series.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 10-14 overall, 2-4 in district play.
The Hornets came out strong out of the gates, pouring in 22 points in the opening quarter to take a, 22-15, lead into the second quarter. The Hornets outscored the Mustangs, 12-7, in the second frame to take a, 34-22, lead into the locker room at halftime.
Sudan would pour in 21 points in the third quarter and 23 points in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 78-52.
Jaibryn Ornelas led the team in scoring with a game-high 46 points, to go along with 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal. Aspen Reyher tallied 14 points, six rebounds, four steals, one assist and one block, while Brian Delgado chipped in 12 points, three rebounds and three steals.
Jacob Baker tallied four points, six rebounds and two steals, while Slade Nickels finished with two points and two rebounds.
The Hornets hosted Olton on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday when they travel to Hale Center to take on the Owls.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
