The Sudan Hornets’ varsity football team, never got going on Friday, as they fell to the Ropes Eagles, 42-0.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to, 1-2 overall on the season.
Ropes quarterback, Kade Franklin, tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Reese Williams to open the game for the Eagles, putting them up, 7-0. Later in the quarter, Mason Marmolejo and Rylan Keith would rush for back-to-back touchdowns, making the score, 21-0, as the opening quarter came to a close.
In the second frame, Marmolejo broke loose for a 70-yard touchdown run and Zayden Pittman followed it up with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Kolter Dockery, stretching their lead to, 35-0.
Ropes would add another touchdown in the third quarter, when Kieth rushed for a 15-yard score, as the Eagles went on to take down Sudan, 42-0.
Caleb Groetken finished the game 2-13 passing for 36 yards and two interceptions, while Cal Carter was 2-3 passing for 31 yards.
In the ground game, Groetken led the way with eight carries for 52 yards, while Carter added 10 carries for 17 yards and Angel Martinez tallied six carries for 10 yards.
In the receiving game, Jaibryn Ornelas tallied one catch for 27 yards, while Aspen Reyher chipped in one catch for 23 yards and Martinez finished with one catch for 13 yards. Kincaid Boehning also had one catch for five yards.
Defensively, Carter led the way with 10 total tackles, while Aybran Granados tallied eight tackles and a fumble recovery and Max Lopez finished with two tackles, one for loss and a fumble recovery. Zach Montes contributed nine total tackles, while Reyher tallied six tackles.
The Hornets will host Vega on Friday for Homecoming.
Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
