The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team took down the Bovina Mustangs on Tuesday, 52-47.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 3-3 in district play on the year.
Bovina outscored the Hornets, 13-11, in the opening quarter and, 15-10, in the second frame, taking a, 2821, lead into the locker room at halftime.
Sudan, though, would come swarming back in the second half, posting 15 points in the third quarter to cut the lead to, 38-36, going into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets outscored Bovina 16-9, to take the contest, 5247.
The Hornets were led by Haden Provence, who tallied 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Christian Delgado joined him in double-figures scoring adding 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals and one assist, while Brian Delgado chipped in 11 points, two steals, two blocks, one assist and one rebound.
Kyler Edwards tallied seven points and six rebounds, while Aspen Reyher finished with five points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two assists.
The Hornets were at Olton on Friday to take on the Mustangs. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Tuesday against Hale Center.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
