The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team competed at the Tahoka Tournament last weekend, where they went 1-3.
The Hornets fell to Grady in their opener on Thursday, Dec. 5th, 58-50.
Jaibryn Ornelas led the team with 37 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, while Brian Delgado tallied six points, two rebounds and one steal, and Slade Nichols added five points and one rebound. Aspen Reyher finished with two points, six rebounds, two steals and one block.
In their second game of the tournament on Friday morning, the Hornets fell to the Morton Indians, 50-38.
Ornelas led the team with 16 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with seven steals and five assists, while Reyher tallied six points, nine rebounds and one steal. Christian Delgado finished with six points, one rebound, one steal and one block, while Marcello King added six points and five rebounds.
The Hornets picked up a win in their second game on Friday, taking down the host team Tahoka Bulldogs, 55-50.
Ornelas led the team with 35 points, 12 rebounds and two steals, while Reyher joined him in double-figures scoring with 10 points, to go along with seven rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.
Brian Delgado chipped in five points, one rebound and one steal, while Christian Delgado added three points, two rebounds and one block, and Kye Pole finished with two points five rebounds and one steal.
In their final game of the tournament on Saturday, the Hornets fell to New Deal, 56-32.
Ornelas led the team in scoring with 20 points, six rebounds and one block, while Reyher tallied 10 points, seven rebounds and one block and King finished with two points and four rebounds.
