The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team fell in non-district play to the Lorenzo Hornets on Tuesday, 78-58.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 7-10 overall on the year.
Lorenzo took an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking a, 23-15, lead into the second frame. They added 23 points in quarter number two, making the score, 4629, going into the locker room at halftime.
Sudan fought back in the second half, as they poured in 17 points in the third quarter and 12 points in the fourth quarter, before falling to Lorenzo, 78-58.
The Hornets were led by Jaibryn Ornelas, who tallied 32 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Marcello King chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Brian Delgado added seven points, three rebounds and two steals, and Aspen Reyher contributed five points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal.
Kye Polk tallied two points, while Jacob Baker added two points, three rebounds and one block and Slade Nickels finished with two points and two steals.
The Hornets tipped off against Bovina on Friday, January 10th to open district play. Results were not available at press time. They will continue district play on Tuesday with a road game against Olton.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
