The Sudan Hornets’ varsity basketball team went 0-4 this past weekend at the Tahoka Tournament.
The Hornets fall to 0-5 overall on the season.
They fell to Morton, 57-45. Sudan held a one-point advantage, 11- 10, after one quarter, but Morton rallied back for a 14-point second frame to take a, 24-21, lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Indians outscored Sudan, 15-12, in the third quarter and, 1812, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 57-45.
Tony Vargas led the team in scoring for the contest with 14 points. Ryan Huddleston tallied nine points, while Sal Juarez and Trent Wilson each finished with eight points. Derek Rosa chipped in four points, while Jon Conley finished with two points in the game.
In their game against Grady, the Hornets were outscored, 40-13, in the first three quarters, but outscored Grady, 12-6, in the final frame, ultimately falling, 46-25.
The Hornets were led in scoring in this match-up by Wilson and Juarez, who each poured in nine points. Conley added four points, while Joel Williams finished with three points in the contest.
Against O’Donnell, Sudan trailed by eight at the half, 21-13, but in the second half, they were outscored, 23-10, as they fell to the Eagles, 44-23.
Juarez led the team in scoring for this game with 13 points, while Vargas added five points, Wilson tallied three points and Conley finished with two points for the game.
The Hornets played the host team, Tahoka, falling to the Bulldogs, 57-25.
Juarez netted 14 points in the game to lead the Hornets, while Wilson chipped in seven points in the game. Vargas added three points, while Rosa chipped in two points and Conley finished with one point in the game.
The Hornets were at Ropes on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Thursday when they take on Eunice at the Plains Tournament.
