The Anton Lady Dawgs’ varsity basketball team took down the Morton Maidens last Tuesday, 4839, in their second meeting of district play.
Morton got out to a quick start in the first quarter, outscoring Anton, 14-8, but the Lady Dawgs chipped away at the lead in the second frame, netting 11 points, as they trailed Morton, 24-19, going into the locker room at halftime.
Anton would come out of halftime outscoring Morton, 12-5, in the third quarter and 14-10 in the fourth quarter to come back and take the contest, 48-39.
Andie Alonzo-Rivera led the Lady Dawgs in scoring with 12 points, and she was joined in double-figures scoring by Bridget Thomas, who finished with 11 points.
Takyra Goree tallied nine points, while Alyssa Mancias finished with eight points and Sarah Carlisle added three points. Miliana Castillo netted two points in the contest.
