“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
1 Chronicles 16:34 Can you believe it is already Thanksgiving again? Where does time go? I don’t know about you, but I am just amazed at how quickly years are going by now! In a blink we will be celebrating Christmas again, and then Easter, Summer, and before you know it we will be at the table again for Thanksgiving 2025!
In a world that is moving as fast as ours is, it is real easy to simply move from one event to another and not even pause long enough to really drink in the meaning of the moment. I hope this doesn’t happen to you this Thanksgiving. I fear that for many, Thanksgiving will come and go, and there won’t be a big pause to give Thanks to the one who blesses us so much.
In the last few years, I have become more aware of something very true in my life and really the lives of every person on this planet. What is it you might ask? Well, I have become aware that God pours out his blessings on us way more than we will ever realize it. When I bow my head to pray I thank Him every day for my wife, my children, a place to live, work, and friends to name a few, but there are so many more. I think I thank him for a few blessings, but I have come to realize that there are hundreds, thousands, millions, even billions of blessings that aren’t included in my thanks to Him. Yes, he is that wonderful! Yes, He is that Faithful! His love truly does endure forever, and the promises He has for those of us In Christ Jesus are more than we could ever count or recite. His blessings are unlimited and so amazing. God always blesses us more than we could ever ask or imagine!
So today I want to add just a few thanks to Him: I thank Him for the promise of living in Covenant with Him through Christ Jesus. The promise of Forgiveness. I thank him for the promise of His faithfulness to me, despite the many times I have not measured up to faithful to Him. I thank Him for the promise of His presence in my life through the beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit. I thank Him that in my weakness he is made strong. I thank Him for the amazing provision He blesses me with seen by Philippians 4:19 “and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus! I thank Him for the one that has changed everything in my life, Jesus Christ!
That is just a few additional things I can think of, and the page is getting short. Now, let me give you a little challenge. From now to the end of the year, why don’t you begin looking in your life for blessings you can thank God for. Start writing them in a notebook each time you think of something. I’m telling you we can’t thank Him enough, and the list is limitless. Once you get to the end of the year, just keep going, and come Thanksgiving 2025 your list will be BIG and your heart will be full! “Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures Forever!”
