Be a Blessing, Not a Burden ...
We all have difficult days. There are times when we need encouragement, support, and someone to help carry us through. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with needing help. In fact, God designed us to walk through life together.
But there is something powerful about asking ourselves, “Am I making life heavier for the people around me, or am I making it a little lighter?”
The Bible says in Galatians 6:2 (NKJV), “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” We are called to help carry one another—not to continually add weight to one another.
Jesus taught us that our lives should make a difference in the lives of others. Sometimes being a blessing doesn’t require money, great talent, or extraordinary effort. It might be as simple as offering an encouraging word, checking on someone who is struggling, forgiving when we have been offended, showing kindness to a stranger, or simply being there when someone needs a friend.
Philippians 2:4 (NKJV) says, “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
Imagine what our families, workplaces, churches, and communities would look like if more of us intentionally lived that way.
Dear Friends, we can’t always control what happens around us, but we can control what we bring into the lives of others. We can bring peace instead of drama, encouragement instead of criticism, hope instead of discouragement, and kindness instead of negativity.
Here is the challenge: Before you go through your day, ask God, “Who can I bless today?” Then look for an opportunity to put your faith into action.
You may never know how much a simple act of kindness means to someone. But remember—God didn’t bless us just to be blessed. He blessed us so that we could become a blessing.
So this week, let’s make a difference wherever we go.
Be a blessing, not a burden. Amen! With Love, Pastor Billy Montes
