Good News For All People...

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Luke 2:10-11 Over the Thanksgiving Holidays, my wife and I were given the good news that we were going to be grandparents again. This time it will be a boy! Wow, that really is good news! Other members of my family as well as our friends were overjoyed and welcomed the news. But you know what? I don’t know that the rest of the world really cares about our good news. After all, what is the likelihood that this grandson will do anything to change their lives? Such is the case for most children born into the world.

Of course every child matters, and each life is such a blessing to their family. And then who knows what this child may grow up to become? Maybe they will find a cure for cancer, be an astronaut, our president, a novelist, or a famous scholar and teacher. They could change many lives, but probably not the whole world. But there was this one time, where one birth changed the future of all humanity!

Angels came to a group of shepherds and gave them this great news, and they hurried off to see this baby found in a manger. What they found was a baby who looked like any other baby in a place that didn’t really look like the beginning of anything outside of the norm; however, what they didn’t realize is that this baby was Jesus the Messiah, the one and only Son of God. This baby was truly different, and special, and just as the angel said it was “good news for all people!”

What the gift of Jesus meant for the world is a way out of the sentence of death because of sin. Jesus came to pay that debt at Calvary and now we have the opportunity to celebrate the Savior that came to the world! I wonder, when we gather around our Christmas trees and exchange gifts and enjoy the time of year if we realize just how precious this gift of the Lord Jesus Christ was? Well, it’s never to late to start praising God for the gift of Jesus! After all, Jesus in our lives as our Savior is and always will be the very best news EVER!!
