Hello Everyone!
Summer is gone and I trust you had a good one! It is hard to believe we are gearing up for another successful school year. I am excited about the opportunity to work with you in continuing our success in academic and extracurricular activities. I know as a dedicated professional, you will strive to help maintain our accomplishments. My expectations continue to rise for this district, but I am very confident in your ability to meet the challenges that lie ahead of us as we begin the 22-23 school year.
Helping students reach their full potential requires planning, individualization and teaching strategies that can impact ALL students. I want EVERY child at Littlefield schools to have an opportunity to become successful. For this to occur, they desperately need an environment that is loving and inviting. Therefore, it is important to build relationships with your students. They are counting on you!
We are in the process of putting new HVAC units at the Primary and Wildcat gymnasium. The units we are replacing are around 20 years old and we are utilizing our ESSER money to help pay for this update. The demolition of the softball field will begin in the next week or so. Once everything is removed, crews will begin to prep the field by our baseball complex in anticipation of building the new softball stadium. We are hoping to break ground on the new high school in January of 2023.
We are having the Department of Public Safety troopers train in our high school on Wednesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 4. The high school will be off limits on both days. On Friday, August 5, we will be having a Civilian training at the Junior High auditorium beginning at 9:00 a.m. Your attendance is required! After the DPS completes the Civilian training, we will have each of you report back to your campus in preparation for an emergency situation training. Mr. McNeese and I will provide a schedule to each principal regarding the time of the training, etc. You will be able to comp this day. Again, your principal will provide more detail.
Convocation is set for Monday, August 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the JH auditorium. The district will be providing donuts from 8:00-8:25 in the JH Library prior to the meeting.
Respectfully,
Mike Read
