It has been a long time since I’ve gotten to write an edition of the D.L., so I figured I would give you guys an update into our life before our schedule gets super busy again in a few weeks.
As most of you know we adopted our son Jaden (Cheekies) in January, and that has been the highlight of our year to this point. We will also soon be adopting our daughter, Natalia (Baby Girl). 2023 will be a year to remember for the Lopez family.
We celebrated Baby Girl’s first birthday in April and celebrated Jaden’s third birthday in May...it’s hard to believe that they are already three and one, time really does fly by.
We also celebrated Father’s Day this past weekend, and though it wasn’t my first time to celebrate Father’s Day, it was probably the most special one, in my opinion, because I don’t have to wonder any more if this will be my last one with my kiddos. They’re with us forever and I don’t have to think about the prospect of them leaving us ever again. So this one was very special to me.
We went and ate at the Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo with my parents, my sister and her family and her in-laws. It was delicious, but it was soooo much food. My kids got to take their first picture in the “Big Chair” that they have out on their back patio and it was just an all around good day.
On Sunday, I got to do exactly what I wanted, we stayed home, we made breakfast for lunch, which was bacon, fried papas and tortillas and we just kicked back and relaxed together. It was very nice!
We are t-minus 16 days until we leave for our vacation, we’re going to Idaho for my Grandpa’s Memorial. We wish is for a better reason other than losing a family member, but it will be great to see a lot of family we haven’t seen in years and that my kids will be able to meet for the first or second time.
This will be Baby Girl’s first time to go out of state, last year when we went to go see my Grandpa, she was only a month old and couldn’t go with us, but this time she is road tripping with us. Between my and my sister we will have a pre-teen, and three kids three and under, so it should be a very interesting 22 hour drive.
Of course we will be splitting it into two, possibly three days of driving, because it is impossible to ask the kids to make that drive in 22 hours straight.
We are looking forward to all kinds of shenanigans and adventures. On the way back we will be stopping through Yellowstone National Park and the Denver Zoo and Aquarium. I’m trying to figure out a way to squeeze in a stadium tour at Coors Field, but I don’t know if we’ll be able to or not.You guys know me and know I love baseball!
We’ve got some other stops along the way, my sister found some fun stuff for the kids to do along our route on the way home, so it should be a fun and relaxing little get-a-way.
We will get back in mid July and celebrate Marisa and I’s birthdays, then we should be having Baby Girl’s adoption around the end of July, beginning of August and then we run it back as the school year begins. The summer seems to get shorter and shorter, but I sure do love the sports seasons.
I’m excited for the 2023-2024 school year; I think all of our teams have legitimate chances to make a run at the post-season with lots of talent coming back around the county. Two-adays will be here before we know it.
In other news, My Braves are having a great season thus far, they’re 20 games over .500 and looking to bring home another National League East title, as well as making a run at the 2023 World Series. I’m glad to see one of my favorite players, RonaldAcuna Jr. looking like his old self, baseball is better when my team is winning.
I’m excited for the Saints season for a change, I’ll be completely honest, between being busy and just not really caring last year, I don’t think I watched a single Saints game last season. I’m also extremely excited for the college football season and looking forward to what my Fighting Irish are going to do with a new Offensive Coordinator and new Quarterback. I really think they’ve got a shot to be in the National Title hunt come the end of December.
