Mustangs clinch share of district title with win over Sudan, 7-0

The Olton Mustang’s varsity baseball team defeated the Sudan Hornets, 7-0, on Saturday, behind a no- hitter thrown by senior, Brody Langford, to clinch a share of the District Championship.

This is the Mustangs first Gold Glove in school history for the baseball program.

The teams went scoreless through the first inning, before Olton was able to scratch three runs across in the bottom of the second inning. The Mustangs added a run in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings to extend their lead to, 5-0, going into the fifth inning.

The Mustangs scratched two more runs across in the bottom of the fifth, as they took the contest, 7-0. Olton finished with 11 hits in the contest.

On the mound, Langford finished with 16 strike outs and gave up just two walks in the contest. He was also 3-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI’s.

Sophomore, Alan Vasquez, was 2-3 at the plate with two RBI’s, while senior, Brennon Huguley, was 2-3 with an RBI.

For Sudan, freshman, Caleb Groetken, threw six innings for the Hornets giving up four runs and two walks, while earning seven punch outs.
