Nettes compete at hub city tip off classic

Sudan wins Consolation game over Montwood,45-38

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team played their Consolation game on Saturday morning as they took down Montwood, 45-38, at the Hub City Tip Off Classic at Frenship High School.

With the win, the Nettes finish the tournament 1-4, moving to 2-6 overall on the season.

Sudan came out hot out of the gates, outscoring Montwood, 20-7, through one quarter. The Nettes added 10 points in the second quarter to make the score, 30- 16, going into the locker room at halftime.

Montwood wouldn’t go down without a fight, as they came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Sudan,11-3, to cut the lead to, 33-27. Sudan would edge out the Rams, 12-11, in the fourth quarter to take the contest, 45-38.

Gracyn Shultz led the team in scoring with 21 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists, while Stevi Lockhart added 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Landree Gonzales tallied five points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Melo Rodriguez contributed two points, two rebounds and one steal.

Elaine Martinez tallied two points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist, while Edette Herrera chipped in four rebounds, one point and one steal, and Blessy Montes added one rebound, one assist and one steal. Kambry Tolbert finished with three steals and one rebound.

The Nettes took on Lubbock Christian on Tuesady. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Nov. 29th when they take on Borden County on the road.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
