Idalou pulls away late from Nettes to win, 59-48

The Sudan Nettes’ varsity basketball team fell to the Idalou Lady Cats in pool play Friday morning, 59-48, at the Hub City Tip Off Classic at Frenship High School.

With the loss, the Nettes fall to 0-3 in pool play for the tournament.

It was a tight game early-on with Idalou clinging to a three-point lead, 17-14, after one quarter of play. Both teams netted 10 points in the second frame to make the score, 27-24, heading into the locker room at halftime.

However, in the third quarter, Idalou pulled away, outscoring the Nettes, 11-5, to take a, 38-29, lead into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cats edged out the Nettes, 21-19, to take the contest, 59-48.

Stevi Lockhart led the team in scoring with 19 points, to go along with four rebounds, four steals and one block, while Gracyn Shultz joined her in double-figures scoring with 10 points. She also added two steals, two assists, one rebound and one block.

Landree Gonzales tallied six points and two rebounds, while Blessy Montes contributed five points and Elaine Martinez added four points, two steals, one rebound and one assist. Kambry Tolbert tallied three points and one assist, while Braelyn Pointer chipped in one point and one assist.

Edette Herrera added two rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Melo Rodriguez contributed two steals, one rebound and one assist.
