The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team dropped a home contest against the Roosevelt Lady Eagles on Tuesday, 51-46, at Wildcat Gymnasium in Littlefield.
With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 0-2 overall on the season.
Amelia Salas poured in eight points in the first quarter for Roosevelt, while Arianna Cruz and Kennadi Hanlin each knocked down a three for the Lady Cats, as the game was tied, 12-12, heading into quarter number two.
In the second frame, Madison McNeese went off for nine points, including a pair of threes to help Littlefield to a one-point advantage, 25-24, going into the locker room at halftime.
Salas netted four points in the third quarter for the Lady Eagles, while Kyndal Edgemon and McNeese each tallied four points in the third quarter for Littlefield to keep their one-point lead, 38-37, going into the final quarter of play.
However in the fourth quarter, Nevaeh Bueno poured in eight points in the fourth quarter for Roosevelt, and despite a three-ball from both Jasmine Barrios and Maerysa Saenz, the Lady Cats fell to the Lady Eagles, 51-46.
The Lady Cats hosted Tahoka on Friday. Results were not available at press time. They will continue their season on Monday with a home game against Sundown.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
