Plainview Hosts 40th Pahnandle Parade of Breeds Calf Show

The 40th Annual Panhandle Parade of Breeds and Heifer and Steer Show took place on Thursday, June 16th through Saturday, June 18th at the Ollie Liner Center in Plainview, Texas. The show saw an overflow of animals with 461 entries. The center housed the animals under tents on the grass.

Braxie Albus of Levelland, beat out 47 other junior steer exhibitors in that age division. Naomi Clevenger of Friona, beat 39 other intermediate age steer exhibitors to win that division. Jentry Chisum, of Abernathy, won the senior age division over 36 other contestants and a $750 scholarship. Colt Parkinson, of Levelland, won the junior heifer showmanship contest, while his brother, Tucker Parkinson, won the intermediate heifer showmanship. Karley Rayfield, of Lubbock, won the senior division and a $750 college scholarship. Kynlie Brock, of Lockney, beat 19 other youth to win the peewee age division.

In Ring A Heifer Show, judged by Chad Coburn from Sterling City, Texas, Karlee Rathmann, of Slaton, guided her Charolais heifer, TLAC All That 9903, to the Gebo Supreme Champion Heifer spot. Reserve Supreme Champion Heifer was a Brangus named Queen B shown by Kauy Carr, of Sudan, Texas.

Other breed champion heifers were exhibited by Tatum Crossland of Hale Center with her Red Brangus, Other American Recorded Breeds exhibited by Laiken Beerwinkle of Wolfforth, an Angus and Simmental exhibited by Braxton Cole of Tulia, a Red Angus presented by Journi Harris of Lubbock, a Hereford and Polled Hereford exhibited by Sloane Beerwinkle of Earth, a Shorthorn exhibited by Copper Popelka of Levelland, a Chianina presented by Hanna Gruhlkey of Adrian, a Limousin exhibited by Tucker Parkinson of Levelland, a Maine Anjou exhibited by Piper Carr of Littlefield, Other Recorded Breeds exhibited by Takkett Holder of Abernathy, and All Other Breeds and Crosses presented by Sheyenne Franks of Darrouzett. Ring A Prospect Steer Show

Ring A Prospect Steer Show had 336 entries and was judged by Parker Henley from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Berkley Bird, of Lubbock, won Grand Champion with her 724 pound Other Cross steer. Luke Altman, of Shallowater, won the Reserve Grand Champion with his 874 pound Charolais steer. Sadie Wampler, of Canyon, won the third best spot with her Black Cross steer. Tristen Himes, of Sterling, took the fourth best spot with his Reserve Champion Other Cross steer. William Wall, of Idalou, took the fifth best spot with his Champion Limousin steer.

Other champion steers in Ring A include Kelton White’s Brahman of Hermleigh, a Brangus exhibited by Naomi Clevenger of Friona, a Santa Gertrudis exhibited by Brogan Patschke of Lubbock, a Simbrah exhibited by Berkley Carver of Abernathy, an American Breeds Cross presented by Corbin Marsh of Hereford, Texas, an Angus presented by Kinlee Rathman of Slaton, a Red Angus presented by Ryker Chisum of Abernathy, a Hereford presented by Jett Hale of Miami, a Polled Hereford exhibited by Ellie Bezner of Dalhart, a Shorthorn exhibited by Blakely Benson of San Angelo, a Maine Anjou presented by Kirsten Bezner of Texline, and a Simmen tal and Red Crossbred presented by Jace Jordan of Lubbock.
