So, it has been a lonnnggg time since I’ve gotten to update you guys with a glimpse into our life with my column.
Life and work have been keeping us crazy busy, but we’re taking the craziness head on.
We got to take the boys too their first big league game and the Ft. Worth Zoo back in April. That was a blast seeing the boys’ reaction to the Rangers ball park and hearing Ace say that’s the Braves, we watch them on TV, and seeing him do the chop with me, are memories that we will cherish forever.
The Zoo was also so much fun to watch the boys interact with the animals and hearing them talking to them like they can really understand them and trying to get them to come to the wall, it was precious and something we will always remember. Ace can’t wait to go back to the zoo.
The boys have grown so much over this past year, Ace has such an amazing vocabulary and Cheekies is right behind him just soaking up everything he can. Cheekies has the best arm of any two-year old I know, I can’t wait to see him on a baseball field. Ace can throw too, when he wants to, but he is just not as into it right now, and that’s OK.
The Boys had a blast over the last few couple of months watching Lady Cat Softball and Wildcat Baseball. They love all of the kids, but really enjoyed getting to see their big bro Jaron play ball. I’m so thankful for all of the kids, that they take the time to say what’s up to my little guys and talk to them, because Ace and Cheekies look up to all of them so much.
So call us crazy, but a unique circumstance arose and we recently went from a family of four for the time being to a family of five. We recently had the boy’s baby sister placed with us and she has been such a little bundle of joy. The boys absolutely adore her and love to help with her, whether it is giving her her binkie, or taking a bottle from me to Marisa in the other room, or going and grabbing a diaper for her or the wipes...they have been the best big bros.
It was a little bit of an adjustment going back to having three kids across the middle seat of the van instead of two and getting up in the middle of the night to make her a bottle and change her, but overall it hasn’t been bad at all. She is a very sweet baby, and we are so blessed to have her in our home at the moment.
We are still waiting on a court date for our appeal to the final ruling we got last year on the boy’s case. It’s been a long wait and has not been fun sitting with so many what if’s still up in the air, but we are trying to remain faithful and just put it in God’s hands.
So for the time being we are just trying to make every memory we can with the kids and enjoy the day-to-day shenanigans that go on in our house.
We actually have our first cross country trip coming up two two weeks, we’ll be going to visit my Grandpa in Idaho. Unfortunately, Baby Girl will not be able to go with us, because it is going to be too long of a trip for her, so she will be staying with some friends of ours for the week, and I’m feeling some kind of way about it.
I told my best friend Edward, after baby girl had been here about four or five days, that she hadn’t even been here a week and she already had me wrapped around her finger. She’s such a cutie and I love her little gummie smiles that she does when she’s sleeping.
But, we’re going to take this opportunity to enjoy our time with just the boys probably for the last time for the foreseeable future. It is going to an adventure with them, going over 1,500 miles with two toddlers. At least one is potty trained. We’ll have Nana with us, so that will help a lot, having an extra person to help take care of the boys on the road.
It’s been a good year for my sports teams: the Braves won the World Series last fall, the Celtics are in the NBA Finals, the Irish Baseball team is on to the Super Regionals and UCLA is trying to battle their way back in the Women’s College World Series. Only thing that could top it off is if the Saint win the Super Bowl.
Hopefully it won’t be this long until the next installment of the D.L. with Derek Lopez.
