The Sudan Nettes’ varsity softball team picked up a, 14-1, victory over Petersburg on Monday to improve to 5-3 overall on the season.
Sudan jumped on the Lady Buffaloes early, as they pushed two runs across in the bottom of the first inning, making the score, 2-0. The Nettes’ offense erupted in the bottom of the second inning for 10 runs, stretching their lead to, 12-0.
Sudan pushed two more runs across in the bottom of the third inning, and Petersburg scratched one run across in the top of the fourth inning to avoid the shutout, as Sudan went on to take the contest, 14-1.
Junior, Landree Gonzales, pitched a complete game for the Nettes, earning three strikeouts, while giving up just one run.
Offensively, junior, Gracyn Shultz, had two hits and two RBI’s on the day, while Hailey Flores and Braelyn Pointer, both finished with two hits and Victoria Leal added two RBI’s on the day.
The Nettes host Trinity Christian on Saturday for a non-district match-up.
First-pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
